God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things for His Kingdom and Glory.
As a group of ordinary people came together with a heart for helping children learn about God and the Bible, extraordinary things happened. In 2012, the first Released Time Bible School for Van Wert City School children was established. To date, 740 children from grades 1 through 5 (94% of the Van Wert City Elementary School children) come to our Released Time Bible School, Cross Over the Hill, to learn about God through His Word.
As the children “graduate” from Cross Over the Hill in the fifth grade, they have begged us to continue teaching them about the Bible. So, on Feb. 21, 2018, the first Released Time Bible School for Middle School students opened! We had to construct a new facility for the Middle School children since the Cross Over the Hill Elementary School was too long a walk and would take up too much class time. So now we have an elementary facility and also a new middle school facility.
We have many goals for our new facility, such as:
- Starting Released Time Bible High School classes
- Teaching Synergy students (a school in Van Wert for troubled children who cannot function in a regular school setting).
- Teaching Marsh Foundation children (Marsh Foundation is an alternative boarding school in Van Wert).
- Reaching out to neighboring communities and beyond to help them establish a Released Time Bible School in their area.
I think we all feel an urgency to reach out to as many people as possible in these troubling times. Our hearts are for children who have not been taught about God and the Bible.
The guiding verse for Cross Over the Hill is Psalms 78:4, “We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD, about His power and His mighty wonders.”
We press on, with God’s help, to reach as many children as possible. All for His Glory and Honor.
