“Life is made of meetings and partings, that is the way of it.”
– Kermit the Frog (as Bob Cratchit, from A Muppet Christmas Carol)

In 2017, School Ministries Ohio was blessed to be served by Jill Kinn, who gracefully navigated the rapids of four major events in one calendar year: our (at 85 – 3 states represented, largest ever!) “Find Your Timothy” conference, Board Retreat, highly successful bi-annual joint local-state fundraiser (drew 150+ and funds for each organization in excess of $12,000) and first-ever Ohio School Boards Association conference booth and session presentation. A busy and faithful mom and wife, Jill decided to return full-time to family life, but not until she helped bring our state organization to a whole new level of excellence in outreach and organization. As Christmas came, we were sad to see Jill go, and give thanks to God for her positive influence. But after her parting, we thought, Lord, what do you have in store? We need help with a growing organization now in demand more than ever. Who will you bring to us?

But God was already working… and soon after, I was meeting Beth Miller. Read the testimony of our new Administrative Assistant and Volunteer Coordinator:

Helping children learn about Jesus has been an important part of my life since the age of 13, when I became a helper in my mother’s fifth grade Sunday School class. It is a goal I have pursued since then both as a volunteer and most recently as Director of Children’s Ministries at a local church. I loved that ministry, but after 18 years, I sensed God telling me that my time there was done. I had no idea what He had in mind for me next. I walked away feeling sad for what I was leaving behind, but also glad for whatever new would come my way.

My husband and I decided I should take some time off from working to get refreshed spiritually, and for us to complete a major DIY home remodeling project. The plan was for me to return to work when the project was done. We finished construction on December 10 and the new furniture arrived on December 19, just in time for Christmas! We had our last family holiday get-together on January 15, and the next day I started looking for a new job. And there on indeed.com, I saw School Ministries Ohio’s posting!

I never dreamed that I would have the opportunity to be employed again in a setting that helped kids learn about Jesus. I am blessed beyond words to be a small part of the valuable ministry of Released Time Bible Education through School Ministries Ohio! How humbling to know that God had this planned for me all the time, even when I had no clue what the future held.

Beth also brings to her service of School Ministries’ mission, extensive administrative experience working for Winebrenner Seminary and her denomination, as well as a heart to work with volunteers. So my hope and prayer is that we will make her feel much at home, as part of our School Ministries Ohio family. If you’d like to send Beth a “Welcome to the family!” email, I invite you to send a message to info@schoolministriesohio.org.
